Custom Handcrafted Knives by Mark Weaver
Welcome to GeekBlades!
I hope to document progress with my new hobby of hand-making quality knives here.
I started this hobby as more of a curiosity, than anything: to see if I COULD do it. As many who have dabbled with this craft, I have caught the bug and can't wait to get started on my next project.
I currently use stock-removal process and have made 2 knifes to date with 440c stainless steel stock. I hope to explore other materials in the future, but I have been quite happy with the durability and results from the 440c.
The knife pictured above was really Project #1 and was a gift for my father-in-law who is an avid hunter. I have asked him to "field-test" it and comment so I can learn from my efforts and improve the designs of blade, edge, and handle.
So far, he has been VERY happy with the performance and durability of his new hunting knife after using it to field dress and butcher 2 deer this season.
More pictures will follow on my process, setup, and results.
